There's no training this Thursday 4th April, nor is there a game on Sunday 7th April.
We will resume training on Thursday 11th April ahead of our away game to Hinksey Park.

Wantage game rearranged

Our postponed home fixture to Wantage has been rearranged to Wednesday 1st May. So it looks as if our last game of the season is going to be in the evening. I'm not sure of the kick off time or even if we can play at The Closes but we'll let you know nearer the time

Thursday training

We are training as usual, 7pm  on Thursday 28th March at Tilsley Park

Club Presentation Day

The Cumnor Minors Presentation Day has been arranged for Sunday 19th May. It will start at midday with individual team trophies and medals at 1pm. This is followed by the main presentation, raffle, auction and club trophies at 2pm. It should all finish at around 3pm and more details will be revealed nearer the event date.

Game at home to Wantage - OFF

Our next game is on Sunday 24th March at home to Banbury United with kick off at 2pm. Players to be on the pitch ready to warm up by 1.30pm
Wantage Town didn't have a great start to the season but they have won their last two games beating Garsington Youth and Grove Rangers.

The poor weather forecast over the weekend means this game has to be in doubt. We'll check the pitch on Friday night and Saturday with all updates posted on here.

Update 8pm Friday 22nd March
Our pitch is under water so unless there is a heatwave it will be unplayable on Sunday. I spoke to the Wantage manager as we have to offer to play at their ground. They are having a pitch inspection at 11am on Saturday. The result will posted here.

Update 12pm Saturday 23rd March
Wantage and Cumnor pitches are both unplayable so the game is off

The pitch is a bit dodgy following the recent rain but as it stands the game is still on.
An update will be posted on here tomorrow morning.

Update 9am Sunday 17th March
The Grove manager has just phoned and thanks to the snow the game has been called off

Update 9am Monday 18th March

CM v Banbury United

10th March    home   result 10-2   half time 5-1
Scorers for CM: Jack Hitchen (3)   George Thomas (3)   Robbie Catling (2)   Obaida Mohamedi   Conrad Deer

Cumnor kicked off against the wind and immediately pressed for goal. It only took 4 minutes before Jack Hitchen slotted home a cross from the right.
Jack scored a second five minutes later with an excellent shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Cumnor continued to press but Banbury pulled one back following two defensive errors letting their number 9 though on goal and although Westy made a dramatic goal line save he followed up to score.
Cumnor regained the upper hand with three goals in quick succesion,  two by Robbie Catling and one from George Thomas.
This meant the half ended 5-1.
Pete's half time talk reminded Cumnor to be careful, Banbury had created chances and the game was by no means over.
He was right and in the second half it was Banbury who scored first after another mix up in defence.
This seemed to galvanise Cumnor into action and the rest of the game was played mostly in Banbury's half.
There was the inevitable missed chances but Jack Hitchen got his hat trick, Obaida scored from a shot in the centre of the penalty area and Conrad got one from the right, shooting after drifting past two Banbury players. George got two more for his hat trick, one from an indirect free kick and the second a good poacher's goal after a keeper's error.
It was obviously a comfortable win but to be fair Banbury aren't a bad side. It's a tough league this year and their defence is rather brittle.
You can't get a hat trick and not be man of the match so the joint award goes to George Thomas and Jack Hitchen.

Next game at home to Banbury United

Our next game is on Sunday 10th March at home to Banbury United with a kick off at 2pm. Players to be on the pitch ready to warm up by 1.30pm
Banbury haven't had the best of seasons so far but they played pretty well against us at Banbury earlier in the season before letting in 2 late goals to lose 1-4. It should be a good game.

Break, then training, then game

There's no game this weekend but we are training as usual at Tilsley Park, 7pm on Thursday 7th March.
This is ahead of our league game at home to Banbury Utd, kick off 2pm on Sunday 10th March
