Rearranged games

Posted Wed 15th Feb
Our home game against Northway is now scheduled for Sunday 4th March and our home game against Radley Youth is Sunday 18th March.
Details to follow

CM U16s v CM U15s Friendly

A spirited friendly in played in excellent conditions.
The under 15s fielded 10 men for the first half and we soon went into the lead with a shot from Robbie from 20 yards out. This was followed by a great goal from Obaida when he scored directly from a corner after 20 minutes. A further goal from Jake meant we went three up after 25 minutes.
Full credit to the U15s who didn't let their heads go down and they were rewarded with a goal after 30 minutes. Five minutes late the U15s were awarded a penalty when Westy was judged to have fouled a player in the box. This was duly converted and the score at half time was 3-2.
To even things up a bit a rather slightly over age goalkeeper was added to the Under 15s side for the second half.
The U15s really upped their game after the break and got their equaliser after 60 minutes.
It became easy to see why the U15s have won all their league games in their A league and also why they score most of their goals towards the end of their games as they really battled hard for the winner. The U16 responded with some hard football and took a rare chance after 70 minutes when Kane slotted home what proved to be the winner.
It was a great friendly and the Under 15s played some excellent football, but the Under 16s were resolute and took their chances.
Many thanks again to Nick Penfold who ran the line in his usual professional way.
Our man of the match was goalkeeper Connor Penfold who made some brilliant saves especially in the second half.

Friendly v CM U15s Sunday 19th February

Posted Mon 13th Feb:
We've arranged a friendly against our fellow Under 15 side at The Closes on Sunday 19th February, kick off at midday  - not our usual 2pm.
This should be a good chance to get some football in before our next two games.
I hope all can make this game.

CM v Radley Youth 26th February - Postponed

Posted Mon 13th Feb:
I've just heard our game against Radley on the 26th has been postponed as their re-arranged cup game has been given that date. So we have 2 home league  games left to play in March (hopefully!).

Training on Tuesday 14th February - OFF

Posted Sat 11th Feb:
Botley's pitch is under 4-5cms snow and when that thaws it will go back to the same flooded state it's been all week. It's also half term with some already not able to make it, Oxford Utd are playing at home and there's no game on the next Sunday.
All these mean we should call off training for Tuesday now rather than going through the motions and calling it off on the day. At least the more romantic ones will be able to do the good thing.

CM v Northway Sunday 12th February - Postponed

Our next game is at home to Northway at The Closes on Sunday 12th February, kick off 2pm.
It's our biggest game so far this season so we will be looking for a good attendance with both players and spectators.
The weather forecast is not too promising but as it's an afternoon kick off there is a reasonable chance of it going ahead.
We will be posting updates on here later in the week to keep you all informed.

Update Friday 8pm:
I went to look at the pitch and its still got 3-4 cms of snow on it and is rock hard underneath. In the unlikely event of it thawing out it will just sit on the surface so is not going to be playable by Sunday.
All other Oxfordshire league games are postponed and I'm afraid ours is too.
Enjoy the weekend in front of the fire!

Training on Tuesday 7th February - OFF

Training is technically still on as of today (Monday) but the weather forecast is pretty miserable so it is in doubt. We'll have a look at the pitch tonight and tomorrow morning and let you know the result as soon as a decision is made

Update Monday night:
I've had a look at the pitch and there's still plenty of snow lying on it. Where it has melted it's leaving standing water, so it will either be unplayable because it's frozen or waterlogged so we might as well call it off now.
