Next game at home to Garsington Youth

Our next game is at home, kick of 2pm on Sunday February 3rd against Garsington Youth.
Garsington have won their last four games since we played them in November and lie second in the table, so it promises to be a good game.
The weather forecast is pretty reasonable for the weekend so the game will almost certainly be on, but if there is any danger of  it being postponed news will be immediately posted on here.
All players to be on the pitch ready to warm up by 1.30pm

Update 1pm Saturday 2nd February
Our pitch is still waterlogged so I've suggested we play the game next Sunday, 10th February at The Closes. We need to get this confirmed but that's the favourite at the moment.

Update 2.30pm Saturday 2nd Feb
After discussions with Garsington and the club we are now playing this game at Garsington, 2pm kick off at Garsington Sports Club, Denton Lane, Garsington, Oxford OX44 9EL

Update 8.30pm Friday 25th January.
Still no word from Grove and there hasn't been a blanket postponement of OIYL games this weekend so the game is still on.

Update 3.30pm Saturday 26th January
I've just heard from the Grove manager and the game is off. The pitch is unplayable, but the bizarre thing is they had a cup fixture anyway which is why they didn't contact us earlier. We were not told about this.

Training on Thursday at Tilsley Park - OFF

We are not training as usual at Tilsley, 7pm sharp on Thursday 24th January ahead of our away game against Grove Rangers on Sunday 27th January

Update 7pm Wednesday 23rd January
I've just spoken to Tilsley Park and the snow currently on the pitch is extremely unlikely to thaw by tomorrow night so training on Thursday is cancelled

Next game away to Hinksey Park - OFF

In an effort to play this fixture on Sunday 20th Hinksey Park have moved it to Cowley Marsh which is unsurprisingly on Marsh Road in Cowley. The postcode is OX4 2HH
The match is obviously in danger of being called off thanks to the weather forecast for the weekend but to be positive it's currently on with a kick off at 2pm.
All players needing a lift to the ground are to be at Elms Parade by 1.10pm. Those that are making their own way should be on the pitch ready to warm up by 1.30pm.
All updates and any news from Hinksey Park will be posted on here first

Update 5pm Friday 18th January.
The OIYL Secretary has given permission for clubs to postpone games early this weekend for the obvious reason. We haven't heard from Hinksey Park yet so technically the game is still on. Technically.

Update 1pm Saturday 19th January
I've just heard from Hinksey Park and the game is called off.

Training on Thursday

We are training on Thursday 17th January, 7pm at Tilsley Park.
Whilst the forecast is cold it's not predicted to snow so it's very likely to be on. If it is in risk all updates will be immediately posted on here.

Update 3.30pm Wednesday 16th January
Tilsley are confident the ground will be ok. I will check again at around 4pm on Thursday but if there are no updates here it means training is still on.

Update 5.15pm Thursday 17th January
I've just checked with Tilsley and the surface is fine so training is on tonight

Update 10pm Thursday 17th January
Well done to the 10 hardy souls who braved the snow and cold to turn up for this session.

CM v Cholsey Bluebirds U18s (friendly)

13th January   away   result 3-4   half time 1-1
Scorers for CM: George Thomas   Conrad Deer (2)   Obaida Mohamedi

This friendly was quickly organised following the postponement of our game against Kidlington. The match was played in cold winter sunshine
We started well with Obaida hitting the bar in the second minute but the game soon settled down into an even match with both teams creating chances.
New signing, George Thomas, scored the first goal for Cumnor after 25 minutes with a well taken shot from just inside the penalty area. Cholsey equalised in practically the last kick of the half when Kane was beaten by a low shot from inside the six yard area.
Pete's half time talk asked for more of the same effort but to be more disciplined in the centre of the pitch as midfielders were drifting to the wings.
The second half began well for Cholsey as they took the lead after 48 minutes with breakaway goal despite mistaken claims of offside from our defence. Conrad equalised six minutes later with a opportunistic shot inside the penalty area but Cholsey retook the lead after 60 minutes.
With just under half an hour remaining Ben Whitehead took over as goal keeper with Kane going into central defence.
Obaida made it 3-3 after 70 minutes going through on goal, he evaded two tackles and dribbled past their keeper to knock the ball into an empty net.
Both teams then made a lot of player and postional changes and it was an open and even game. Westy had a 35 yard shot saved by their keeper and Ben made one of the best saves you are likely to see, diving to his left.
The game looked like it was going to finish an honourable draw until Conrad scored with a great shot from outside the penalty area in virtually the last minute of the game.
It was a great workout for us with good performances all round, many thanks to Glenn of Cholsey Bluebirds for organising the match and refereeing it too.
Joint Man of there match goes to Ben and Kane for the efforts both in defence and goal.

We have a friendly!

Following Kidlington's postponement of Sunday's game we've arranged a friendly against Cholsey U18s kick off 2pm Sunday 13th January. Their ground is Cholsey Recreation Ground, Oxon. OX10 9PT. Players are to be on the pitch ready to warm up at 1.30pm. It's a friendly so friends of the club are welcome to play.
We are leaving Elms Parade at 1pm sharp for all those needing lifts to the game. Please let us know so that space will be available.
There are rumours of snow for the weekend and all updates will be posted here first.
