Training on Tuesday

Our next training is at Fogwell Road 7pm Tuesday 1st November. We are looking for a decent turnout ahead of our important game away to Radley on Sunday.

CM v Botley U15

29th October 2011 away Result 1-6 (I think!)

An entertaining friendly against Botley Under 15s. Botley battled well and kept the score down to 0-1 at half time but in the second half the 9 man Cumnor side were too strong.
Well done to the two Cumnor players who volunteered to be loaned to Botley for the game to even things up a bit. Charlie Bennett was definitely the hardest worker on the pitch in their defence. Westy did a great job as their striker and got his reward with a goal.
It was a good run out for both teams and all players should feel pleased with their performance today.

Game versus Banbury United postponed

The away game against Banbury United on 27th November has been postponed, new date to be advised.

Break then friendly

Following our successful first training session at Botley FC we will take a break for half term. Our next game is a friendly at Botley's ground in Fogwell Road against their under 15s side. Kick off at 11am on Sunday 30th October.

New training day and location

Our winter training will be a Botley FC's ground on Fogwell Road, every Tuesday 7pm to 8.30pm.
By popular demand this starts on Tuesday 18th October.
Please all be there at 7pm sharp. If you can't make it, you must let us know beforehand. Text, phone or email to me or Pete are fine, telling a mate at school doesn't count. Anyone simply deciding not to attend training will jeopardise their place in future games.
We don't have a game scheduled until 6th November but are planning a friendly on Sunday 30th October. Details to follow.

CM v Wantage Town

16th October 2011  away   Result 3-4

CM scorers Jim Whitelock 2  Jamie Smith  Joff Stimpson
A really exciting game of football which saw the lead change hands four times.
Wantage scored first with a rather speculative shot, but Cumnor soon equalised with a goal by Jim Whitelock from a corner. Jamie Smith put Cumnor ahead following up a shot from Conrad Deer.
Wantage equalised with a calmly taken breakaway goal and retook the lead a few minutes later.
So it was 3-2 to Wantage at half time.
In the second half Cumnor quickly drew level with an opportunist goal by Joff Stimpson and then took the lead again with another goal by Jim Whitelock from a Jamie Smith corner.
Cumnor held on well to see the match out to win 4-3.
Jamie Smith was Cumnor Man of the Match with a tireless display in midfield and a well earned goal.

Match at Wantage kick off 12.30pm

A reminder that the game on Sunday kicks off at 12.30pm rather than the usual 2pm.  Meet at Alfredian Park, Manor Road, Wantage OX12 8DW at 11.30am
For a lift be at Elms Parade at 11am, but please let us know to make sure there is a space.
We need a good turnout for this important game.

Oxford Invitation Under 16 Cup

We are drawn at home against Harwell and Hendred for this cup game. The game is to be played on 20th November provisionally at 2pm. They are a division 1 team so it will be a tough game, but you never know, this could be the opportunity for a spot of giant killing!

Winter training update

It looks like 7 - 8.30pm Tuesday at Botley FC is the firm favourite for the new training day. We've got a few weeks before the next scheduled game (6th November) so will train on Sundays in-between then. Details to follow.

CM v Ducklington

9th October 2011  home   Result 1-1

CM scorer Joff Stimpson
The wind meant the game was rather a lottery and we did well in the first half against the wind. Ducklington had few chances and probably felt lucky to go in 0-0 at half time. We expected to kick on in the second half and it was a shock when a defensive mix up meant they scored the first goal. No fault to the defence, it was just one of those unhappy sequence of events.
We got our equaliser with another great opportunist goal from Joff Stimpson. We then pressed well for the winner but the wind, even in our favour, meant it was impossible to play good passing football.
It was a fair result in a really good game played in poor conditions.
Man of the Match goes to Jim Whitelock who had a brilliant game in midfield.

We have a choice for our winter training under floodlights and they are:

Training on Thursday 6th October

We are training at The Closes as usual on Thursday 6th October but as it getting dark earlier the start time has shifted to 6pm sharp.
Try to get there on time or you will miss the warm up, which basically consists of standing around chatting while we try to find yet another ball kicked into the hedge.
