CM v Greater Leys Youth

25th September 2011  home   Result 1-2

CM scorer Michael Ohomele
We started off well but were unable to convert our chances thanks to the woodwork and some excellent keeping by Greater Leys. A shot directly from a free kick gave Greater Leys the lead which they held at half time.
We equalised in the second half with a good reaction shot from Michael Ohomele in a crowded penalty area, but Greater Leys retook the lead following a mix up in our defence.
Greater Leys battled well for their victory but our side played well and with a bit more luck could have got something from the game. The confusion with the referee regarding the substitution rules did not help our cause.
CM Man of the Match goes to Ben Whitehead for leading the defence so well, he  is also proving to be a really good captain of the team.
Special mention again to Joff for volunteering to play in goal for the whole match. He made a couple of vital saves and was quick to run off his line to defend the long balls when we were pressing for the equaliser in the second half.

Kidlington Youth v CM

18th September 2011   Away   Result 2-4

CM scorers: Ben Whitehead 1 Jamie Smith 2 Robbie Catling 1
We got off to a great start scoring two goals in the first ten minutes, the first a strong header from Ben Whitehead and the second a superb 20 yard shot from Jamie Smith. Kidlington reduced the deficit to 2-1 with a well taken goal off the far post shortly before half time.
In the second half we increased our lead to 4-1 with two opportuntist goals from Jamie and Robbie, but Kidlington again struck back following a long kick from midfield into the path of their centre forward giving Connor no chance. We missed a couple of chances late in the game but a good battling performance by Kidlington kept the score to 2-4
Joint Man of the Match goes to Jake Gerring and Connor Penfold who were the only ones prepared to brave the keeper's shirt, taking one half each. They both performed really well.

A great start to the season with a comfortable home win against a decent Banbury team.
