CM v Cholsey Bluebirds U18s (friendly)
13th January away result 3-4 half time 1-1
Scorers for CM: George Thomas Conrad Deer (2) Obaida Mohamedi
This friendly was quickly organised following the postponement of our game against Kidlington. The match was played in cold winter sunshine
We started well with Obaida hitting the bar in the second minute but the game soon settled down into an even match with both teams creating chances.
New signing, George Thomas, scored the first goal for Cumnor after 25 minutes with a well taken shot from just inside the penalty area. Cholsey equalised in practically the last kick of the half when Kane was beaten by a low shot from inside the six yard area.
Pete's half time talk asked for more of the same effort but to be more disciplined in the centre of the pitch as midfielders were drifting to the wings.
The second half began well for Cholsey as they took the lead after 48 minutes with breakaway goal despite mistaken claims of offside from our defence. Conrad equalised six minutes later with a opportunistic shot inside the penalty area but Cholsey retook the lead after 60 minutes.
With just under half an hour remaining Ben Whitehead took over as goal keeper with Kane going into central defence.
Obaida made it 3-3 after 70 minutes going through on goal, he evaded two tackles and dribbled past their keeper to knock the ball into an empty net.
Both teams then made a lot of player and postional changes and it was an open and even game. Westy had a 35 yard shot saved by their keeper and Ben made one of the best saves you are likely to see, diving to his left.
The game looked like it was going to finish an honourable draw until Conrad scored with a great shot from outside the penalty area in virtually the last minute of the game.
It was a great workout for us with good performances all round, many thanks to Glenn of Cholsey Bluebirds for organising the match and refereeing it too.
Joint Man of there match goes to Ben and Kane for the efforts both in defence and goal.
